Practical Journal Insight Project (PJIP)

any kind of data

The Practical Journal Insight Project (PJIP) is a free, open-access journal directory designed to improve transparency in academic publishing. The platform covers tens-of-thousands of journals across all subject areas, uses a highly specific subject classification system, and presents a wide array of different metrics in an interactive and highly customisable interface. The project supports research by empowering scholars with insights to make informed decisions about where to submit their work. By presenting a variety of novel datapoints - such as journal-reported review times, acceptance rates, editorial board members, word or page limits, and research integrity indicators (and much more)- researchers are better aware of a journal’s standing before they submit. This prevents wasted submission cycles, protects early-career researchers from predatory venues, and aims to incentivise accountability.
